When you first start the game, the castle is the main storage place for coins, food and dust.As you progress through the game you have the option to upgrade the castle which in turn will unlock further storage and other buildings.
The castle has a fixed footprint of 5x5 and cannot be moved. Rewards for upgrading the castle usually unlocks an additional farm and courage keep.
